Day 1: (8:30am - 6:00pm) |
Our
comprehensive live lecture instruction with
PowerPoint provides complete preparation for
every aspect of the Step 2CS,
with an in depth
discussion of communications and interpersonal
skills.
Topics Include:
· Full overview of the exam and scoring procedures.
· A time management strategy for
completing the encounters.
· Scrap paper preparation.
· How to approach the "greeting" and "introduction".
· Expressing caring & concern.
· Acceptable interviewing techniques.
· Appropriate verbal & non-verbal behaviors.
· Taking a focused history with mnemonics.
·
Complete review of all body systems examinations with demonstrations.
· Closing & workup.
· Patient counseling & education.
· Handling patient challenges.
· Some non-traditional cases.
· Guidelines for patient note writing.
· Live encounter demonstration! |

Day 2: (8:30am - 6:00pm) |
Practice and observe fellow IMGs in timed
patient encounters with professionally trained S.P.s.
(3 to 1 Student to SP Ratio)
Receive individual feedback and evaluation from
our "teaching" standardized patients in a
variety of case scenarios.
Our teaching staff and S.P.s have all had
extensive experience in working with IMGs,
specifically in Step 2CS preparation programs. |
