Day 1 - Seminar/ Lecture
Our comprehensive live lecture instruction with PowerPoint provides complete preparation for every aspect of the Step 2 CS exam including Communication Skills, Data Gathering and Patient Note Writing.
Class Topics Include:
- Full overview of the exam and scoring criteria
- A time-management strategy for completing the cases
- Scrap paper preparation
- A proper greeting and introduction
- Professional manner and rapport
- Acceptable interviewing skills
- Appropriate verbal and non-verbal behaviors
- Focused history taking with mnemonics
- Complete review of all body systems examinations with demonstration
- Closing and workup
- Patient counseling and information sharing
- Handling patient challenges
- Some non-traditional cases
- Guidelines for patient note writing

Day 2 – Patient Encounters Live Practice (8:30am – 6:00pm)
Hands-on practice of all seven body systems examinations with our experienced “teaching” standardized patients.
Practice and observe fellow IMGs in nine different full timed case presentations with individualized feedback and evaluation following each case (each student will perform and receive feedback in a minimum of three full encounters including PE).
